Points-of-sale (POS) terminals accept unembossed Visa cards in the same way as other Visa cards – just swipe or insert as you would for other Visa cards. No new acceptance software or hardware is required. Once the transaction is authorized, hand the printed receipt to the cardholder to sign. If you do not operate a POS terminal, please contact your bank to confirm how you should process a transaction with an unembossed Visa card. Can I take a manual imprint of the unembossed Visa card? Unembossed Visa cards cannot be used for transactions that require a card imprint using a zip zap machine. Merchants that accept these cards and hand write the draft will be liable for these transactions if an issuer submits a fraud chargeback. What are the security features on the unembossed Visa card? The unembossed Visa card has the following security features:
Dove hologram (either the standard hologram at the front of the card or a mini hologram placed on the back) - Pre-printed BIN
Signature panel Three-digit CVV2 value on the signature panel Ultraviolet element (on cards using the old Visa flag mark, the ultraviolet element is the UV Dove. For cards using the new Visa brand mark, this is the UV V on the Visa mark and the UV Visa on the signature panel) How are disputed transactions handled? Such transactions are handled according to the current procedures you use for all other Visa cards. Who can my customers call if they have questions on their unembossed Visa card? They can contact the financial institution that issued their unembossed Visa card. The telephone number should be listed on the back of the card.
