Visa cardholder Ms. Tan Bee Bee and her family will be off to Singapore to experience the glitz and glamour of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on 14 August 2010, just for using her Citibank Visa card to pay for lunch. The 38 year-old assistant tax manager beat out hundreds of entries from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines to win the four-day trip. It includes flight tickets for four people, accommodation, tickets to the Singapore 2010 Opening Ceremony and Visa Prepaid cards preloaded with S$200. Ms Tan said: “I’m so excited to have won – it was completely unexpected. I’ve always loved watching the Olympics Games on TV and now, Visa has given me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to actually be there at the world’s first Youth Olympic Games and come face-to-face with some of the world’s leading young athletes. I can’t wait to cheer on the Malaysian team when I’m there!” Stuart Tomlinson, Country Manager, Malaysia, Visa said: “Congratulations to Ms. Tan and I’m sure she will have a wonderful time with her family in Singapore. As the worldwide sponsor and partner of the Olympic Games since 1986, Visa is thrilled to share the excitement of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games with our cardholders in Malaysia. We believe in uniting the world through sport and one way of doing this is giving Ms Tan and her family the chance to attend the Games in person.” To take part in the contest, Visa cardholders simply had to use their Visa card to make any purchase and log on to www.visa-asia.com/syog to submit a 20-word outline on the importance of the Youth Olympic Games to young people. The contest was open to all Visa Credit, Debit and Prepaid cardholders in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. No minimum spend was required to participate. In addition to the trip, participants also stand the chance to win special edition Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games commemorative collectibles in the contest. The closing date for this part of the contest is 29 August 2010. The Youth Olympic Games will take place from 14 August 2010 until 26 August 2010 throughout various sporting venues in Singapore. Some 3,600 young athletes aged between 14 and 18 years old from all over the world, including Malaysia, will compete in 26 competitions. Visa is the official payment services sponsor and the only card accepted at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. As the worldwide sponsor and partner of the Olympic Games since 1986, this is the 14th Olympic Games supported by Visa.
