Verified By Visa
Benefits for Your Business
Fraud reduction
With the introduction of Verified by Visa, Visa card issuers now have the opportunity to authenticate a cardholder’s identity during each transaction, providing a similar level of security to that of face-to-face transactions.
Reduced liability
In recognition of the security improvements provided by Verified by Visa, the liability rules for Visa Internet transactions using Verified by Visa have been changed, offering Verified by Visa participating merchants guaranteed payment for the most common types of cardholder disputes.
This benefit is extended to both transactions where the cardholder has registered for Verified by Visa and also where they have not yet registered. With limited exceptions, provided merchants comply with the rules of the Verified by Visa program.
Visa estimates that your fraud-related costs may fall by 50 percent or more with the implementation of Verified by Visa. To help you calculate the cost savings you may receive by implementing Verified by Visa, Visa has developed a Verified by Visa Business Case Calculator for your download.
Reduced operating expenses
Losses from fraud and the customer service costs associated with processing cardholder disputes can be a significant expense to your online business. Even when disputes are successfully resolved, handling and processing disputes can be costly. The reduction in fraud and operating expenses associated with reducing disputes can provide your business with direct bottom line savings.
Higher sales
With improved security, cardholders who currently only browse on the Internet will become more confident purchasers; hence increasing sales volume for participating merchants.
Marketing opportunities
The Verified by Visa program sends a strong message to consumers. By participating in Verified by Visa, you are showing your customers that you are committed to conducting e-commerce in a secure manner. This may present additional marketing opportunities for your business. Visa and participating financial institutions regularly carry out marketing activities to educate consumers about the benefits of Verified by Visa, which often include merchants participating in Verified by Visa. Visa also features Verified by Visa-enabled merchants on its websites. Further information about Verified by Visa marketing opportunities can be found by clicking here.
Simple and flexible implementation
Adopting Verified by Visa requires you to implement a special software at your website – the Verified by Visa Merchant Plug-In (MPI). Installation is usually simple, with little or no disruption to your existing purchase flow. There are a number of flexible implementation options available. Choose the option that best suits your business.
