Unembossed Visa
The unembossed Visa card looks like a standard Visa card.  However, there are significant changes to the physical features of these cards resulting in new card characteristics that Visa merchants will be seeing for the first time in a Visa Flag product.

Characteristic:

A.  Acceptance Mark: Visa Flag on front of card; some cards may have a Visa Electron mark on the back of the card

B.  Account Number: Uembossed, laser engraved; indent printed or thermal printed (with cover)

C.  Cardholder Name and Expiry Date: Printed. Some cards may not have the cardholder name on the front of the card

D.  Hologram and UV Dove: Mandatory

E.  Legend on Card Face: Electronic use only

F.  Chip: Cards may carry a chip

G.  Pre Printed 4 Digit Bin: Mandatory

These features include:

As the card is unembossed, the card cannot be manually imprinted (used in a zip zap machine) and must only be swiped or inserted (in the case of chip cards) into your point of sale (POS) terminal.

Authorization-Preferred Visa
This is a standard Visa Flag embossed card with enhanced issuer risk control through a code in the magnetic stripe that instructs the terminal to always request an online authorization.  This product is directed at getting the widest acceptance base while increasing the issuer’s opportunity to see more authorization requests.

Visa cards that are issued with the Authorization-Preferred Visa product option will have the same physical appearance as the familiar Visa Flag card.

Authorization-Preferred Visa cards are not widely used in the Asia Pacific Region.
Visa Electron
Visa’s global electronic acceptance mark, the Visa Electron “Flying Comet”, offers unparalleled secured customer utility at 13 million physical locations worldwide, including close to one million ATMs worldwide.

Always authorized against the cardholder’s account balance, Visa Electron offers superior risk control through secure point of sale utility to customers at little or no additional risk.

The identifying features and characteristics of Visa Electron cards include:
