| 11 December 2007 | Hong Kong | | | Jackie Chan Delivers Encore Performance in Second Visa Olympic Games Commercial | | | Regional commercial shows how “All it Takes” to get to the Games is your Visa card | |
Television viewers from Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand will, from this week, get to see Jackie Chan return to their screens in Visa’s second Olympic Games commercial. The commercial accompanies Visa’s regional cardholder usage promotion program where Visa will send 3,500 cardholders from Asia Pacific to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Cardholders from Hong Kong and Macau markets who spend at least HKD/MOP 300 on their Visa cards either at home or overseas will qualify for chances at winning a three-day, two-night trip for two to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. “Our action filled spot featuring Jackie Chan ties into the “Win a Trip a Day to the Games” campaigns that are running across the region and is a humorous take on how even a small purchase on your Visa card can get you to the Games. While our first commercial showed Visa as the only card accepted at the Games, this second commercial illustrates how that same card can take you there,” said James Dixon, Country Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, Visa International. In the new commercial, Jackie again teams up with Olympic basketballer Yao Ming. While using his Visa card to make a simple purchase, Jackie finds himself in comical situations and eventually lands up in the thick of the action at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. “We first chose Jackie Chan because of his friendly public image and his popularity in Asia Pacific. His outstanding martial arts ability combined with his unique sense of humor was reflected and greatly appreciated in the first commercial which has been running across the region since January. This is the first time Visa has used the same celebrity in two consecutive commercials and is part of our larger Olympic campaign,” said Dixon. The new television commercial was conceptualized by BBDO and was filmed in studios and on location in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Houston. Original music for the advertisement was produced in Thailand. As a TOP (The Olympic Partner Program) sponsor for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Visa has created a comprehensive and integrated marketing campaign which includes national advertising campaigns, special promotions, merchant marketing and public relations efforts. “As a worldwide Olympic sponsor since 1986, Visa is in a special position to make it easier for Visa cardholders to stand a chance at experiencing the Olympic events and to show their support for their athletes in person,” said Dixon. Visa has been the exclusive payment card and the official payment service of the Olympic Games since 1986 and will continue its category sponsorship through 2012, including the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Visa will be the only card accepted at all Olympic Games venues for official Olympic related transactions.
