The basis of the system is the ability to automatically match the card transaction data from the Member with the travel agent or CRS data generated when the card was used. Travel Agents have information regarding the expense, such as traveler name and city pairs, as well as information about how to allocate the cost to the right part of the organization, such as cost center or project code. Alternatively, VTAM can match financial data with Customer Reservation System’s (CRS) data. In this case travel agent data is not required.
In addition to the automated matching facility, the VTAM application supports user’s ability to review the results of the automated matching process and perform manual matching for the records that were not matched during automated process. Matching of these records allows a company to enrich the information of the financial records thus allowing connectivity with other back office processes including cost allocation.

VTAM allows for the creation of custom file extracts in common file formats that can be imported into existing general ledger or accounts payable software. In addition, transaction data can be downloaded directly into Intuit and Microsoft financial products. For security, individual user access is password-protected and can be restricted based on the company’s organizational units.
