Team Visa reinforces commitment to the Olympic Movement
As one of The Olympic Partnership Program (TOP) sponsors and the official payment partner of the 2008 Games, Visa is committed to supporting the Olympic movement and the growth of sports around the world. At an exciting public ceremony in Hong Kong on 1 August 2007 Visa demonstrated this commitment with the announcement of the formation of Team Visa.
Team Visa is an assembly of four of Hong Kong’s leading athletes that reflect the spirit of Visa - to empower people to get more out of life. The team members are Chan King Yin (Windsurfer Men), Li Ching (Table Tennis), Sze Hang Yu (Swimming), and So Wa Wai (Athletics, Paralympics Games). Team Visa’s athletes will participate in the new Olympic-themed advertising campaign and will take part in Visa programs aimed at increasing awareness for the 2008 Beijing and Paralympic Games.
The launch event was held, appropriately, at Hong Kong’s Olympian City shopping mall. Team Visa athletes were joined by James Dixon, Country Manager, Hong Kong and Macau, Visa International; Rajiv Kapoor, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Marketing, Asia Pacific, Visa International; Chris Clark, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Philippines, Visa International and special guests Pang Chung, Hon. Secretary General, Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and Jenny Fung, Chairman of the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Sports Association for the Physically Disabled.

At the launch, hosted by Wendy Hon, co-anchor of TVB Jade’s Sports World, the Team Visa athletes and the new advertising campaign were introduced to the public. There was also a demonstration of Visa’s new website that enables Hong Kong people to show their support for Hong Kong’s athletes in their quest to represent the territory in the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Members of the Hong Kong public can visit the Team Visa web site at www.teamvisa.com.hk and leave short messages of support for the athletes. The event was rounded off with a fun game of table tennis between athletes and guests.
