Jackie Chan signals the launch of Visa’s Beijing 2008 Olympics campaign in Australia
On Sunday 18 February Visa International launches its first Olympic-themed television commercial inAustralia promoting its partnership with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The commercial features international movie star, Jackie Chan and centers on Jackie’s eagerness to participate in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The fast-paced action moves between several of the Olympic venues as Jackie tries to find ways and means to make it to the Games. Eventually, he discovers an easier way to get to the Olympics – all it takes is his Visa card.

The new campaign highlights Visa’s position as the exclusive payment card for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Bruce Mansfield, Visa International Executive Vice President, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific said Visa’s latest advertisement “is 100 percent fun”.

“Visa has a wonderful track record of great television commercials. Many still talk about our John Eales ad for Rugby World Cup 2003.  The Jackie Chan advertisement will be one of those ads you laugh at every time you see it,” Mr. Mansfield said.

Visa will be running a series of marketing campaigns leading to the Games including a variety of opportunities to win inclusive packages to experience the Games first hand in Beijing.

“Australians love their Olympics and I think Visa’s association with the Beijing Games will prove very popular for cardholders and our key partners,” Mr. Mansfield said.

“Jackie Chan is a first-class legend. He has a special association with Australia as he lived in Canberra during the seventies and currently supports the Jackie Chan Science Centre at the Australian National University.

“As one of the TOP sponsors of the International Olympic Committee, Visa’s commitment to the Olympics and Paralympics extends beyond the duration of the Games. Visa is now working closely with member banks in China to improve the payment environment to best meet the financial requirements of global cardholders when they visit China ,” Mr. Mansfield said.

Visa is a member of the Olympic Partnership Program (TOP) and the exclusive official payment card brand and payment service provider designated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Since 1986, Visa has been committed to the development and advancement of electronic payment systems and promoting tourism for Olympic host cities and countries.  To build upon Visa’s strong support for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Visa is actively working with local partners in China including member banks, the China National Tourism Administration and the Beijing Tourism Administration.
